Paper, paint, cloth, embroidery floss, graphite

85.5 x 56.5 inches

This work is from the "Text-Textile" series. The series is a reflection on the experience of rhythm and scales of time. I used various materials (thread, graphite, embroidery floss) to draw large letters that spell ALL DAYS ARE COUNTED. Each letter occupies a separate quadrant.

I am drawn to themes that broadly explore questions of time and language as compelling parts of lived experience. I have come to recognize in my work three interrelated and central preoccupations:
• the coded traces left by remote geo-cosmic epochs and by historical events
• the enigma of death within the limited yet variable scales of human lifetimes
• the everyday actions that accrue to transform matter, which include the time of craft and work, and time made visible in hints of decay and spells of regeneration
